Pregnancy Update: 16 Weeks

When I first found out I was pregnant, I went through a bit of a grieving period. David and I just got married! I wasn't ready for this! But as time went by, I soon realized that no one is ever ready for these huge life-changing things. We are truly blessed that we were able to get pregnant so easily. We are now at a point where we can't stop talking about it. Maybe it's because we kept it a secret for so long, or because I'm finally showing, or because we are just really that excited.I've decided that this is a perfect life event to blog about. I spoke with David about it, and we decided that even if no one cares or keeps up with our journey, this will be a wonderful thing to look back on and remember all the little details of our first pregnancy. How Far Along: 16 weeksWhat is Baby G Up To?: Baby Gregory is the size of an avocado. )It's really funny, and not scientific at all, that most pregnancy websites/apps compare your baby to a food item. Last week Baby G was the size of an orange, which I typically think of as bigger than an avocado, but we will go with it.) He or she is growing hair, taste buds and can hear our voices and the sounds outside the belly. We had a doctor's appointment last week and heard the heartbeat for the third time and along with it, a few bumps proving Baby G is quite active. I'm not surprised as he or she is half David, who just does not slow down! How I’m Feeling: Like myself. There are times throughout the day where I actually have to remind myself that I'm pregnant. I still feel like I just look a little overstuffed, but I realize more and more that my clothes are getting tighter and people are starting to ask. I've been able to feel the baby flutter a bit in my belly, which is super strange, but I have to be in a very specific position to feel it. Usually at my desk at work, when I'm least expecting it. I'm always hungry, but I have energy to workout a bit. I've realized I'm not going to be running any marathons anytime soon because I become short of breath far quicker than I ever have before. I still get super exhausted and have been going to bed hours before my normal bedtime, but overall, I feel good. What I’m Wearing: I'm still in my own clothes. I put aside a pair of tights after wearing them last week and realizing they are just a tad too tight nowadays. I know the maternity clothes are just a few weeks away. What’s On My Mind Lately: Well, Belize was an awesome distraction from work and everyday life. Since getting back, David and I have slowly been decorating for Christmas and starting to shop for gifts. Christmas really snuck up on us this year. We haven't really slowed down since the wedding! What I’m Craving: Well, I went through a baked potato phase, and then spent $15 on chicken salad because I needed it so badly. I almost cried over ravioli a few weeks back because the closest grocery store didn't sell what I wanted, so I had David drive to the middle of town to find some for me. (He's awesome). Nowadays I'm craving potato chips and milk -- not at the same time, but still, so weird. What I’m Looking Forward To: Christmas break! I can't wait to spend 10 days in New York with my family. We are going to do our registry with my mom while we are up there, too. Counting the days.Best Moment of the Week: Life - just being in Belize. So beautiful. Baby - of course hearing the heartbeat again. Plus we found out we can learn the sex in early January. A belated Christmas gift :)
