Life Lately - October 6, 2017
It's been a while since I've done a Life Lately post, so let's dive right in.
House Hunting
We found a house! We finally found a house! I'm so relieved that part of the process is over with, now onto the next step. Of course, things aren't finalized and we have quite the process ahead of us, but I'm excited to move forward with everything. Here's a little reflection on the process: when we started looking, I thought I would be able to settle for anything and sacrifice certain things because I wanted out of our apartment so badly. However, as the process went on, I realized that I really couldn't sacrifice on certain things. For example, when we started looking, a townhouse was a viable option. However, we soon realized that having a yard was a must-have, and that changed things for us. We also wanted to live in a certain part of town, and there was nothing more frustrating than finding the ideal house in the wrong location. The house we found is right where we want to be (close to Wegman's!) and has a great yard. It also has a lot of potential for our family to grow in! Of course, I'll share more as the process continues, but this is pretty much the biggest thing going on in our lives right now, so I couldn't help but share the news! I also want to write a post about the entire process and the tips we have for others who are first-time home buyers. It's quite the terrifying thing to go through, and it's still not over!
Colorado
Since my last Life Lately post, the Gregorys visited my sisters out in Colorado. We had the best time! I have yet to compile all the photos that were taken, but a full recap post is in the works. Promise! As is a post about traveling with a toddler, which is the hardest part for sure.
Heavy Hearts
I am heartbroken over what happened in Las Vegas on Sunday night. I am finding it pretty difficult to wrap my head around it all. As I was listening to the radio the other morning, they profiled a few of the victims. One was a veteran who they described as 'husky, bearded man with colorful tattoos.' I completely lost it. That description could have been my David! These are just normal people who have to now learn to live their lives without their loved ones. They have to relive this night every single day. Events like thishappen all too often and I've been thinking about these people non-stop.I looked in the backseat to see Finn smiling and lost it again. I don't want him to grow up in a world filled with hate and danger. I don't want fear to hold him back from doing simple things. I am grateful that he is too young to understand any of this at this point, but I know there will be questions asked in the future and that breaks my heart. I know love is stronger than hate, and I'll continue to teach him that.I've realized as I've gotten older that it truly is the little things in life that matter the most - seeing Finn smile is by far one of the best things in the entire world. I hope these photos can make your day a little brighter.
