Bo is here
It’s been years since I’ve sat down to write a blog post. This website doesn’t even exist for a blog anymore. But in the two weeks since Bo came home from the hospital, I’ve been revisiting old posts about life with newborn Finn and Reese, and I knew I had to take some time to reflect on this journey with Bo, too.
I think it’s important to start from the beginning. Before I even found out I was pregnant. It’s probably safe to assume that this pregnancy wasn’t planned. Our kids are 10 and 7, and welcoming a newborn is not something a lot of people would choose to do at this point in time. However, for the past few years, I’ve been feeling pulled towards a third kid - okay, it’s probably been longer than the past few years. I think I always knew we’d have three, but was in denial until recently.
I’m someone who walks towards chaos. When life gets settled and routine, I’ve been known to start a business, move, get a puppy, have another baby, or welcome some other kind of life altering event. David is the same way, to an extent. I guess that’s why it works!
Towards the end of last year, our businesses - our two new businesses that we started right at the same time 😅 - started to take off. We had just sold our house, and life started feeling really good. But the voice I had been pushing away started to get louder. I wanted another baby. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. But when I brought it up to David, he wasn’t feeling the same. I wouldn’t say I begged, but I didn’t let up. I felt so strongly that God placed this on my heart for a reason, and another child would be a blessing beyond anything we had expected at this point in life.
I think I finally wore David down, because he told me he was up for trying for one more. It didn’t take more than two cycles before I saw the positive pregnancy test.
We found out on January 17th that we were expecting. This pregnancy was everything you’d expect at 38 years old, 8 years after your last one. It was humbling and hard, and so magical at the same time. It was the hottest summer of my life, and I felt a lot of guilt for not being able to keep up with the older kids, but I know we have given them a gift in another sibling that they will never regret.
Bo was born on September 20, 2026 at 7:06am. His birth story is as special as he is, and I intend on sharing it here- not for anyone but for me ten years from now when I feel nostalgic for this moment in time.
Bo’s name has just two letters in it - his siblings - Finn and Reese - have 9. Added together, my children have 11 letters in their name. Eleven is my lucky number. This is not something I planned, but a divine reminder that this was always the plan for us.
We chose the name Bo because we love short and simple names that are unique, but not out there. Bo Gregory, like his brother, Finn, sounds like a quarterback - or as Finn says, a tight end ;) (We can’t have two QB’s after all).
Christopher is the name of one of David’s favorite people and closest family members.
I can’t wait to see who you become, Bo.
